Covid Testing Faces Delays Again As Demand Surges Ahead Of The Holiday

With the holidays approaching, some companies require employees to return to their offices, and anxiety about the virus increases with the daily case count, and the demand for accurate Covid-19 testing is surging.     In the past week, the average of Covid-19 tests was conducted 1.6 million times a day, compared with a seven-day average of less than 900,000 in July, according to data compiled by the Covid Tracking Project. (Refer from The Atlantic Magazine)     The surge in demand is yet put pressure on the supply chain of PCR molecular tests - the gold standard for Covid-19 testing - leading to long lines for testing, shortages of supplies, and processing delays across the country.     National labs cannot obtain enough necessary testing supplies. The American Clinical Laboratory Association, an industry trade group, previously warned that its members are facing delays or cancellations on orders for critical supplies, such as pipette tips. Frequently Asked Questions About Your Hot Water Bottles

As the cold weather inevitably draws in, the leaves change colour and fall from the tress and the evenings grow darker and misty we get lots of queries from people about filling, using and caring for their hot water bottle. So we thought we'd take the opportunity, at the beginning of hot water bottle season, to answer some questions that we get time and time again. The most popular questions about FILLING your hot water bottle 1. Why can't I fill my hot water bottle with boiling water? The REASON why you should not fill your hot water bottle with boiling water: Filling your hot water bottle with water that has just come off the boil is very dangerous as the water will continue to heat [bubble] even after the kettle has 'clicked' off. Trying to fill your hot water bottle when the water is still boiling may cause serious burn injuries as the water will 'splash back' as you attempt to fill your hot water bottle. THWBS ADVICE: Once your water has boiled allow your kettle to stand for at least 5 minutes before filling your hot water bottle. 2. Why can't I fill my hot water bottle from a domestic tap? The REASON why you SHOULD NOT fill your hot water bottle with water from a domestic tap: Water in different areas of the country [and the rest of the world] have different properties which may cause deposits in your hot water bottle and lead to its "premature degrading". Basically, the scale you see in your kettle and the limescale you see around your taps builds up in your hot water bottle is could cause it to become brittle and this could result in a leaky bottle or even worse a burst bottle. Boiling water, before using it your hot water bottle removes the harsh properties [deposited as scale in your kettle] and helps to keep your hot water bottle in good condition. 3. The bottle says 2 litres, why do the filling instructions say only fill it 2/3rds full? The REASON why you should only fill your hot water bottle 2/3rds full: It is very important that your hot water bottle is not over inflated with either water or air. By filling up your hot water bottle completely, it does not allow the water to move freely and causes pressure on the hot water bottle. If pressure is then applied when you are using it - like a balloon it could "POP!" causing serious injury. Hence the British Standard Instructions advise to only fill 2/3rds fill. Likewise, if you do not expel the air from your hot water bottle, it could also "POP" while in use. The most popular questions about USING your hot water bottle 1. THE product packaging states that "For your safety it is recommended that you do not fill this hot water bottle with water that is above 40℃." That's not hot enough for me. The reason for this safety warning: Hot water bottles can be dangerous especially if you do not follow the guidance on safe use. We have added the above recommended precaution because people with sensitive skin, in parti...

An Indian woman monthly expenditure on sanitary pads

According to a World Health Organization (WHO) survey in 2017, as many as 67% of women have to borrow health necessities from friends, colleagues, or family members. A message from the women farmers protesting at Delhi borders. One of the issues women face at the protest site was menstrual hygiene. According to a World Health Organization (WHO) survey in 2017, as many as 67% of women have to borrow health necessities from friends, colleagues, or family members. Hariom Tyagi, CEO of Wet-Dry Personal Care said,“The grim reality today is that one in three women hesitates in buying sanitary essentials at a store in the presence of other customers”.     In India, it is observed that many women suffer from vaginal infections due to poor menstruation. Poor health conditions have a negative impact on their health and are more vulnerable to reproductive tract infections and other complications. It can also lead to urogenital infections.     A menstrual cup can be used for up to 10 years. Therefore, it is a more cost-effective and better alternative to sanitary pads. An Indian woman spends 300 rupees per month on pads or tampons. Assuming that the menstrual age lasts for 30 years, this figure is over a lakh rupees. Now imagine that when you use a menstrual cup, you can spend less than 1 / 100 of the cost.     With a vision to give today's women basic menstrual hygiene. Superfit recently launched its premium menstrual cups . In its latest products, the brand intends to promote reusable menstrual hygiene in the women's health field. Nanjing Superfit

Do face masks curb coronavirus spread?

A study from Denmark released to the public last month was being shared as an evidence that masks are not effective in slowing the covid-19 pandemic. Critics pointed out that the study concluded that masks were not as effective as traditional assumptions in protecting masked people. But that doesn’t mean that masks are useless in curbing the spread of coronavirus. The researchers said within the study report.     The study was published in the Annals of Internal Medicine journal on Wednesday. If you read through it, you’ll find that researchers assembled a group of people in Denmark and gave half of them disposable surgical masks to wear, while the other half did not. At the end of the study, they tested the participants' covid-19 antibody and found that 1.8% of the masked group was infected with covid-19, while 2.1% of the nonmasked group were infected with the disease. The researchers say their findings contradict the assumption that masks can reduce your risk of contracting covid-19 by 50%.     Experts have urged the public to wear masks to prevent the wearer from unknowingly spreading the virus to others. The study only paid attention to the possibility of masks protecting their wearers, and in the case that most ordinary people do not wear masks themselves.     Recent studies have shown that masks play an important role in covid-19 in the United States. A study by Vanderbilt University at the end of October found that in Tennessee, the rate of hospitalization rose faster in counties without a mask authorization than in counties with regulations in the state. The study found that counties with the highest proportion of people wearing masks had the lowest hospitalization rates.     So, the recent study in Denmark shows that masks have limited protection for the wearer. But these findings do not suggest that masks are useless. One of the potential benefits of masks is that it reduces the possibility of the wearer transmitting the virus to others. However, other studies have found that masks can inhibit the spread of covid-19. Nanjing Superfit

How to choose a suitable option for your pain, hot or cold pack?

How to choose a suitable option for your pain, hot or cold pack? When you injure yourself, you may reach for a hot or a cold pack. Which option is better depends on the nature of your pain, what caused it and how long you’ve had it. Heat therapy, sometimes called thermotherapy, involves applying heat to an injury or painful area on the body. Hot water bottles or pads that can be heated in a microwave oven are commonly used. Cold therapy, or cryotherapy, can come in the form of water bottles or pads cooled in a fridge or freezer. Placing something cold at the injury site causes the blood vessels, arteries and veins, to narrow. This reduces blood flow through the area and helps reduce inflammation and swelling. Adding heat to the area has the opposite effect: opening the blood vessels up and increasing blood flow through injured tissue. These opposite effects are useful in different situations. We can treat injury or tissue pain with a hot or cold pack, or sometimes alternate the two. Heat therapy is generally thought of as being either dry or moist. Dry heat therapy includes hot water bottles or heated pads. These are easy to apply and are effective for reducing pain. Moist heat therapy includes warm bath, hot wet towel and moist heat packs.

  • Q1: Can COVID-19 nucleic acid test swab be replaced with cotton swabs?

  • A: You bought your own kit for testing the new crown. You dare not use his throat swab and want to use cotton swabs instead. In this case, it is not possible, because the thing he gives has a mesh on it that is easy to store and cotton swabs are not convenient. So you'd better be equipped, and you'd better go to the hospital and ask the doctor to test you.
